Celebrate National Margarita Day in San Diego

Vamos! Grab some salt and lime, it’s almost National Margarita Day! Tickle your taste buds Wednesday, Feb. 22 as you celebrate the day that honors America’s favorite tequila-libation: the margarita. Traditionally made with triple sec, lime juice and, of course, tequila – frozen or not, it’s time to mix things up! 

This year, take your crafting skills beyond a classic margarita, and go for a cocktail with a little more zest. Whether that means mixing multiple spirits, or playing with brightly colored ingredients, creating new twists on traditional sips is the trend of the season. Mixologist and Tequila Cazadores brand ambassador, Manny Hinojosa does just that with his takes on the margarita, adding different flavored purees, bitters and fresh juices with Sal de Gusano on the rim. Crafted with 100 percent blue agave tequila distilled in the highlands of Arandas, Mexico, you won’t have to think twice about seconds.

HIBISCUS GINGER MARGARITA
Crafted by brand ambassador, Manny Hinojosa
2 oz. Tequila Cazadores Reposado
¾ oz. Perfect Puree Hibiscus
¾ oz. Perfect Puree Ginger Sour
¾ oz. fresh lime juice
2 dashes of Fee brother grapefruit bitters
Top with splash of Topochico mineral water

In a cocktail shaker combine all the ingredients with ice except Topochico, shake and serve over the rocks. Garnish with lime peel and dash of cinnamon powder.

 

 

 

CAZADORES HIGHLAND MARGARITA
Crafted by brand ambassador, Manny Hinojosa
2 oz. Tequila Cazadores Reposado
½ oz. St-Germain
½ oz. Agave syrup
3 oz. Fresh grapefruit juice
½ oz. Fresh lime juice
Pinch of salt

In a mixing glass combine all the ingredients with ice, shake and serve over the rocks.
Salt optional

BLOOD ORANGE MARGARITA
Crafted by brand ambassador, Manny Hinojosa
1 ½ oz. Tequila Cazadores Blanco
¾ oz. agave syrup
¾ oz. fresh lime juice
1 oz. perfect puree blood orange
2 dashes grapefruit bitters
Sal de Gusano de Maguey rim
Orange slice garnish

In a mixing glass, add all the ingredients with ice, shake vigorously and serve over the rocks. Garnish with orange slice

 

 

 

JALAPENO MARGARITA
Crafted by brand ambassador, Manny Hinojosa
1 ½ part Tequila Cazadores Reposado
½ part premium triple sec (Cointreau)
½ part Agave nectar
½ part lime juice
½ part lemon juice
1 slice of jalapeno

Combine all the ingredients, besides jalapeno with ice. Shake with slice of jalapeno and serve over the rocks. Garnish with lime wedge

 

 

PUMPKIN MARGARITA
Crafted by brand ambassador, Manny Hinojosa
1 ½ oz. Tequila Cazadores Reposado
1 oz. Bols Pumpkin Spice liquor
2 oz. Orange juice
½ oz. lemon juice
Dash of cinnamon powder

In a cocktail shaker combine all the ingredients with ice, shake and serve over the rocks. Cinnamon sugar rim glass and orange peel for garnish.

WINTER BLACKBERRY GINGER MARGARITA
Crafted by brand ambassador, Manny Hinojosa

1 1/2 oz. Tequila Cazadores Reposado
3/4 oz. Perfect Puree Blackberry
3/4 oz. agave nectar
3/4 oz. Fresh lime juice
1 slice of ginger
Salt rim optional

In a mixing glass muddle slice of ginger add the rest of the ingredients with ice shake vigorously and serve over the rocks. Garnish with lime wheel and fresh blackberry.
