San Diego Informer attended Long Beach Comic Con (LBCC) for the first time this year. LBCC is a two day event held at the Long Beach Convention Center. Per LBCC’s official website, the event is a “celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators and creators of all types of pop culture.”
LBCC did not disappoint. It’s hard not to be absorbed into the general vibe of a comic convention and become the same as everyone else. LBCC stood out from the other cons by providing an exciting outside area filled with famous cars from movies such as the Jurassic Park jeeps, The Jokers sedan, Herbie the Love Bug and more. Keep in mind, LBCC is nowhere near the size and magnitude as mega monster cons San Diego Comic Con or Stan Lee’s Comikaze but this works to LBCC’s benefit as the con was extremely pleasant to navigate and wasn’t overfilled with guests that go just so they can say they went.
We were surprised at the amount of cosplayers. This con clearly had the majority of guests dressing up in costume and it reflects upon the culture of LBCC. Of course every other cosplay seemed to be Harley Quinn and the Joker, but hey, we aren’t judging. The hard work and dedication truly showed in many of the costumes. Check out the gallery below for a look into LBCC!
As per any pop culture con, LBCC was filled with tables upon tables of artist’s work, original comics, plushies and t-shirts. We did find a few booths that are only “con exclusive,” meaning you can only find these merchandisers at comic conventions only. LBCC also booked an official The Firefly panel sponsored by Loot Crate and hosted by Aaron Couch from the Hollywood Reporter as one of their big name guests. We look forward to seeing what panelists and surprises will be at the con next year!
